MARY WENDELL PROCTOR HENDRIX

Mary Wendell Hendrix 80 departed this life for her heavenly home, September 18, 2006 at Hospice House. She was born December 10, 1925 in Savannah to Leon and Maggie Proctor. She and her husband, Ernest Hendrix were life long members of Grace United Methodist Church. Wendell was a member of the Edna Hollowell Zipperer Sunday School Class. She served 30 years in the children’s Department, working in the nursery raising generations of children. She was retired from Sam’s Wholesale Club after 18 years of service, where she worked as a greeter. With a cheerful smile and her precious laugh, she brought warmth to everyone she met.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Maggie Proctor and her sister Ravenna Youmans Proctor.

Surviving are, her husband James Ernest Hendrix, son and daughter in law, Jerry and Mary Alice Hendrix, daughter and son in law, Debra and Clayton Bragg.

She was blessed with five grandchildren, Treena H. Smith Dan, Wendy H. Bennett, Jay E. Hendrix, Elizabeth Bragg, and Jamie Bragg. Great grandchildren are, Lance Bennett, Chandler Bennett, Taylor Smith, Analiese Smith and Kacee Hendrix.

Visitation will be Thursday, September 21, 2006 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors Hodgson Chapel.

Funeral Services will be Friday, September 22, 2006 at 11 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church with the Rev. Michael Culbreth, Rev. Lowery Brantley and Rev. Robert Hannah officiating .

Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

Remembrances may be sent to Grace United Methodist Church

Uncle Ernest, Debra, Jerry, and family, We wish so much that we could be with all of you in this time. We will miss our visits with Aunt Wendell so much! She always made us laugh and we had such a wonderful time. We are also so thankful we got to spend so time with her in July! We will cherish all of these years of memories with her.
